Harmattan: NIMET predicts dust haze in four northern states

Latest update on harmattan dust has been released by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, (NIMET), indicating that dust is expected to be raised at high intensity at Faya Largeau in Chad Republic which is a major dust source for Nigeria and West Africa.

The dust, according to the agency will significantly reduce visibility values in extreme Northern parts of Nigeria, including Maiduguri, Kano, Katsina and Sokoto states.

NIMET advised motorists and other road users to drive with caution due to the poor visibility.

It also advised the general public, especially in the affected states to prevent dehydration and heat strokes by drinking water during the day and keeping warm at night when temperature is expected to be low.
